Jared Casey Applebee's - Always Gotta Go for Two.

When Kansas walk-on freshman Jared Casey caught the winning two-point conversion to beat Texas, he became an instant sensation around the state. When we gave him an NIL deal and produced a spot playing up his new-found fame, he became a house-hold name around the country. Just days after Jared Casey made his game-winning catch, we secured him for the then newly-created NIL (Name, Image & Licensing). Within a week, we had scripted, filmed and produced a spot to run the following weekend, highlighting Jared and Applebee's 2 for $22 Menu. We offered an exclusive debut of the NIL spot to Kansas City Star and Kansas football sports reporter Jesse Newell. Jesse released our, "You Always Gotta Go for 2" spot on Twitter/X, and within hours, it was going viral and becoming the biggest NIL story in sports. Being retweeted and posted by national online, social and broadcast media like ESPN, 247sports.com, The Sporting News, Yahoo Sports, Huff Post and ABC News. Within the initial days after release, Jesse Newell's post generated more than 1 Million views, 1.6K retweets and 12.5K likes. Successes like this aren't the norm. But America fell in love with this story...this walk-on from Kansas. He wasn't a highly-touted quarterback getting a 6-figure NIL deal. He was a small-town Kansas kid, trying to earn a scholarship and had a blast leaning into the fame surrounding his catch. This was a joy to work on. It was a project that had a great kid, with an underdog story and was released at the right time.
